Podango Generally Responsive

Cincinnati IT Community

I ranted on Twitter for a couple of days as I worked on a resolution to my podcasting needs.  I use the Podango podcast hosting service, a free service supported by advertising.  I have not dug into their model and don’t quite understand how advertising supports the service because I don’t have any advertising on my podcasts.  But, hey, it’s free, and they believe they’re making money, so I’m good.

In any case, after spending a few hours trying to resolve the issues, and after not being able to play a Podango created podcast right from their site, natively, I resigned myself to the fact that Podango, and not I, was the problem.  Still, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt.  So I clicked the support link and sent them a friendly email:

Podango Support:

I know it’s a free service, so I understand you can only support me to some level.  I’m okay with that.

Here’s my issue.  I uploaded three podcasts that did play, but now won’t play.  I don’t know why.

Here’s a link to one of them: http://www.podango.com/podcast_episode/3332/83707/Cincinnati_People/Part_1_of_3__Elizabeth_Edwards_on_the_Context_of_InOneWeekend

The other two are parts 2 and 3.  I have podango and podpress working together in Wordpress at andyerickson.org.  I can’t get the podcasts to play directly in the podango site, so I don’t think the blog part is the problem, but I could be wrong.

Can you help me figure out what the problem might be?

Thanks,
Andy Erickson

That was Saturday.  It’s Tuesday, and since then the podcasts began working just fine, so I dropped the subject in my own mind.  Well a few minutes ago I received a pleasant, if ultimately useless, email from Podango support acknowledging the problem and its resolution.

Hi Andy,

Your shows are back up and running. They needed to be remixed. Every once in a while this happens. I apologize for any inconvenience this caused.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with in the future.

Thanks,
Erin
