I’ve written about David Parks and Erin Osterfeld here before. Pretty much all year they’ve been my favorite project of the 2008 UC College of Applied Science senior class. Check out what they’ve done. [...]

Last week, Hazem Said and I spent an interesting lunch hour talking over initiatives that would strengthen UC’s Information Technology programs in the community. If you’re not aware of this, I’m a huge fan of these programs and have highlighted the work of the students’ senior designs here. On a consistent, year-over-year basis, the College of Applied Science attracts and graduates some of the most interesting and creative folks in the information technology space. [...]
This is it for Senior Design II. We’ve made it through two rounds of presentations, and tonight is the final round. There were some phenomenal presentations tonight. So let’s get right into it. [...]
Another night of senior design presentations at UC’s College of Applied Science proved a worthwhile investment. The students have made significant progress, as well they should with the May Tech Expo, where they’ll showcase their work, right around the corner. As I walked into the auditorium at a few minutes after 5:00PM, I noticed many of the project teams frantically rehearsing their presentations just one more time. Either that or talking to themselves. Perhaps senior designs will do that to a person. It reminds me of a poem: [...]
Holy cow. Have you seen the snow outside? I’m guessing most of us just stayed home on Friday. I worked remotely. I’m amazed how much gets accomplished without the general office distractions. Still, internet access was somewhat spotty as every Fairfield student, home from school on Friday, spent the day YouTube-ing. Here’s a re-cap of the week and look ahead. [...]
Monday evening kicked off the Senior Design II at UC’s College of Applied Science. The seniors in the IT program have been working hard to implement practical solutions to real-world problems. Today, and over the next three Mondays, we’ll review the progress of their functional prototypes after design freeze. [...]
We’ll review OWASP in a moment. First I wanted to give you an update on the week. This upcoming week should be pretty interesting. Monday, Microsoft will hold a Service Lifecycle Management seminar at their Mason offices. Then Monday evening (and the two following Mondays) seniors in UC’s College of Applied Science (CAS) IT program will present functional prototypes of their senior designs. Tuesday is the Agile Round Table. On Thursday, LUCRUM CEO, John Bostick, and I will lead a discussion with Xavier professor Tim Kloppenborg’s Project Management class. I’m looking forward to a lively discussion there. [...]
